Junior doctors conference 2020

This event has been cancelled due to COVID-19.

The junior doctors conference takes place once a year and acts as the primary BMA policy setting body for junior doctors in the UK.


Who can attend?

The conference is open to all junior doctors both BMA members and non-members. Places are allocated regionally on a first come, first served basis.

Please note that seats are now only available for those working in Scotland.

If you are not working in Scotland, you will be added to the waiting list.

To register for this event, you will need to sign in using your BMA account details on the registration page. You can get a BMA web account even if you are not a BMA member.


Conference format

Grassroots seminar - Friday 1 May 2020 - fully booked (join the waiting list)

If you have never attended a BMA conference before, there is an optional training session the day before that will prepare you for the event. This is an opportunity to discuss key issues, learn about conference procedures and develop motions to be debated during Saturday's conference.

If you would like to be added to the waiting list, please let us know via the online registration form.

Conference - Saturday 2 May 2020

The conference will open at 9.15am with registration and refreshments. Conference will begin debating motions at 10am and is due to close at 5.30pm.


Social events

A dinner will be held on Saturday 2 May at 8pm with a drinks reception from 7.15pm.

Please note that tickets for the dinner cost £35, which is reimbursable for conference attendees.

Representatives are very welcome to bring a guest to the dinner; the cost is £35 for BMA members and £50 for non-members. Places are limited and allocated on a first come, first served basis.


Expenses and getting time off work

Upon registration, you will receive a standard letter from the BMA outlining your trade union leave entitlement to attend the conference.

Motions must be submitted by 5pm on Monday 10 February 2020 through your regional junior doctors committee.

The conference agenda committee have produced motion writing guidance to assist members in developing well worded and resonant motions.
